Debugging very slow

Tue Jan 06, 2015 3:50 pm

I'm running Atmel Studio 6.2.1502 with a Jlink debugging tool and stepping through the code is painfully slow.
According to the Jlink Control panel, each time the program is paused Atmel Studio reads a lot of registers and this takes 3 seconds.

I have closed all the windows that could show variables/memory/registers to be sure that the IDE isn't reading them to refresh the values every step and nothing changed.

Is this normal? Any way to make it faster?

Same problem here! After update to build 1502, debugging became very slow. I tried to reinstall previous version, but USB driver was not installed (because of new version available), and problem persist.
It seems that AS6.2 is doing more "calls" to JTAG durring each step.

Finally, Atmel published the new build of Atmel Studio 6.2, service pack 2 and now my debugging session is running normally.

Thanks all !! :D

Yes! I confirm that it now runs smoothly, great :)

Thank you Mauricio for the letting me know about the update.
And thank you to the Atmel developers for fixing the issue!
