I have been trying for a week now to determine if MRL (Marketing revision level) B for the AT91SAM7X512 processor was an actual change or a de-rating of the internal flash memory access time. The EOL notice is vague and doesn't really declare that the part has been changed, although a box called "FIRMWARE" is checked on the notice. If that is true then the part has changed and there is much re-testing to be done. Obviously, I would like to avoid that if possible.

So, if anyone knows anything about Rev B of the AT91SAM7X512, please reply. Reading the errata for MRL A, it seems that this too was a change to the flash memory access time - not sure if this a de-rating or a change also??

afaik rev b was a result of changing the fab. in the past the sam devices were produced by lfoundry (a former atmel fab). due to the bankrupt of lfoundry (see here: ... =222919503) there was a need to change the fab and obviously the new fab isn't able to produce fast flash.

Much appreciated. ATMEL is tough to get on the phone.
