No JTAG with ATSAMA5D27-SOM1-EK1

Sun Sep 30, 2018 9:14 pm

I am trying to program my new eval board with a Segger J-Link without success. I have jumpered J7, and the J-Link works with the Xplained Ultra board.
  • sam-ba -p jlink -b sama5d27-som1-ek -a bootconfig -c readcfg:bureg0
    Opening J-Link with S/N '50114432'
    Error: Unsupported device
Using Jlink.exe to connect gives an error message:
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\IAR Systems\Embedded Workbench 8.1\arm\bin>jlink

I have enabled JTAG in BUREG0 with JTAG_IOSET3 using the USB interface which works.

Any help would be appreciated.

If the real goal is to simply install firmware, then try using a USB CDC connection from your target board (i.e. J17) to your PC host.
See this for similar details. The SAM-BA Monitor on the SAMA5Dx has to be executing in order to activate the USB CDC mode on J17.
The SAM-BA commands (from the PC) should then specify the serial port, i.e. 'sam-ba -p serial:ttyACM0 ...', which you apparently had working.

So what is the output of the following command?

Code: Select all

sam-ba -p serial:ttyACM0 -d sama5d2 -a bootconfig -c readcfg:bscr -c readcfg:bureg0 -c readcfg:bureg1 -c readcfg:bureg2 -c readcfg:bureg3 -c readcfg:fuse

Thank you for the reply.

I am downloading and debugging using the USB connection. However, I have a Segger J-Link and presume it may provide additional functions which may prove useful in the future.

Code: Select all

Connection opened.
Executing command 'readcfg:bscr'
BSCR=0x00000004 / BUREG0,VALID
Executing command 'readcfg:bureg0'
BUREG0=0x00060fff / QSPI0_DISABLED,QSPI1_DISABLED,SPI0_DISABLED,SPI1_DISABLED,NFC_DISABLED,SDMMC0_DISABLED,SDMMC1_DISABLED,UART1_IOSET1,JTAG_IOSET3,EXT_MEM_BOOT
Executing command 'readcfg:bureg1'
BUREG1=0x00000000 / QSPI0_IOSET1,QSPI1_IOSET1,SPI0_IOSET1,SPI1_IOSET1,NFC_IOSET1,SDMMC0,SDMMC1,UART1_IOSET1,JTAG_IOSET1
Executing command 'readcfg:bureg2'
BUREG2=0x00000000 / QSPI0_IOSET1,QSPI1_IOSET1,SPI0_IOSET1,SPI1_IOSET1,NFC_IOSET1,SDMMC0,SDMMC1,UART1_IOSET1,JTAG_IOSET1
Executing command 'readcfg:bureg3'
BUREG3=0x00000000 / QSPI0_IOSET1,QSPI1_IOSET1,SPI0_IOSET1,SPI1_IOSET1,NFC_IOSET1,SDMMC0,SDMMC1,UART1_IOSET1,JTAG_IOSET1
Executing command 'readcfg:fuse'
FUSE=0x00020000 / QSPI0_IOSET1,QSPI1_IOSET1,SPI0_IOSET1,SPI1_IOSET1,NFC_IOSET1,SDMMC0,SDMMC1,UART1_IOSET1,JTAG_IOSET3
Connection closed.

I had the wrong JTAG connector. Using the correct Segger connector resolved the problem.
