Failed to update kernel image with default configuration

Tue Nov 22, 2016 9:51 am

I've flashed my SAMA5D3 board with the demo image available at: linux4sam/bin/view/ ... edMainPage

I have already enter the prompt and run some unix commands (ifconfig, ping, ls -l, etc.)

After that, I try to create new Kernel Image with default configuration. reference link: linux4sam/bin/view/Linux4SAM/Sama5d3XplainedMainPage

Does anybody have suggestion about this matter?

*I attach the message where I get stuck

What does a `file` command (on the kernel image file that you built) output (i.e. `file zImage`)?

Yes, I am looking for "zImage" file.

Do you have a working proven "sama5_defconfig" file? I notice "sama5_defconfig" file that on the master branch has different configuration than on the demo archives. I have already got the "zImage" file by following this instruction: linux4sam/bin/view/Linux4SAM/Sama5d3XplainedMainPage, but the "zImage" file size is bigger (3,8MB) than the one from the demo (3,7MB).

That's not a proper response to the question asked

Your boot problem (i.e. an immediate data abort) is not indicative of a kernel configuration issue.

If the file is bigger, you'll have to change the loaded size from NAND in the U-Boot environment and make sure that the kernel fits in the allocated space (check that there is no overlap with the rootfs or DTB for instance)
