Can controller on SAMA5Dx usage

Thu Jun 04, 2015 12:36 pm

Hello all,

has somebody used the can bus controller?
[ 2.020000] at91_can f000c000.can: device registered (reg_base=d0828000, irq=49)
[ 2.750000] can: controller area network core (rev 20120528 abi 9)
[ 2.760000] can: raw protocol (rev 20120528)
[ 2.760000] can: broadcast manager protocol (rev 20120528 t)
[ 2.770000] can: netlink gateway (rev 20130117) max_hops=1
This is the output og dmesg command. But I don't have a can0 interface which I can configure. Has somebody a hint for me?
Best regards
Marc

Where did you look, and what did you look for?
Did you (mistakenly) look in /dev?
Have you ever noticed that there is no /dev/eth0 node for Ethernet?
Likewise you're not going to find a /dev/can0.

For network devices, try the command `ifconfig -a`.
Try reading about the SocketCAN API in Documentation/networking/can.txt (that's in the Linux kernel source).

Hi blue_z,
finally I found out how it's working :D
ip link set can0 type can bitrate 125000 triple-sampling on
ifconfig can0 up
cansend can0 520#1E.10.10
Afterwards I can send and receive CAN data packets. Anyhow thanks for your comment
