Yocto Real-Time Build for SAMA5D4 xplained ultra ERROR

Mon Jun 01, 2015 12:02 pm

Hi,

I am using SAMA5D4-plained ultra board.

I am compiling my linux Kernel with yocto-project how it is described on the comunity webpage.
The compiling of the standard Kernel works very fine and the usage of the board causes no issues.

For an academical work i need to compile the RT-Kernel.

I use the standard configurations how its described for the standard Kernel like above, with the following changed configuration

I add follwing Commands in the local.censored File im my "buildDirectory/conf" :

...

PREFERRED_PROVIDER_virtual/kernel = "linux-yocto-rt"

COMPATIBLE_MACHINE_sama5d4-xplained = "sama5d4-xplained"

COMPATIBLE_MACHINE_quilt-native = "sama5d4-xplained"

...

I think this is necessary because otherwise an error occures like "machine are not supported"

This is described here:

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2802 ... preempt-rt

After that i compile with the following command

"buildDirectory: bitbake core-image-rt"

At this point i always get an error:

Multiple .bb files are due to be built which each provide virtual/kernel ....

Does Anyone gets the same error?

Have someone ideas or suggestions how to fix that?

Maybe there is an issue with the used Linux Versions.
One of my colleagues works with an older version of poky. He used Linux Kernel 3.10 and it seems to work

How can i change the Version of the Linux Kernel which will be compiled?

This error occures also when will compile the Real-Time Kernel for Sama5d3-xplained bord.

So far I am not able not able to use a hard real extension on sama5d3- and sama5d4-xplained board.

It seems to be that is at the moment not possible. I solved my problem by using buildroot and enable the preemtible Kernel mode.

Return to “SAMA5-based”
