Serial Not Working

Thu Oct 25, 2018 8:29 pm

I just loaded linux4sam_6.0 on SAMA5d3 Xplained and there is no serial output on USB. Tried putty and picocom. Works fine on 5.8.

AT91Bootstrap and U-Boot output messages to the DBGU port, and not to any USB device.
Therefore IMO you'd be better off using the serial console on the DBGU port, i.e. the J23 header.
Otherwise you will not receive any output from the target until the Linux kernel has successfully initialized the USB CDC ACM gadget (with your PC host).

BTW referring to a USB CDC ACM connection as simply "serial" is misleading.
