How to connect to a tftpserver on a Linux (Red Hat 8.0) Host

Sun Aug 01, 2004 1:22 pm

I am trying to work with the AT91RM9200DK in a pure Linux environment.
tftp to the Linux target fails.

Can download from the tftpserver on a Windows Host,
but would like to do it from a Linux Host as well.
Can connect to the AT91RM9200DK serial port using Minicom,
but tftp to the Linux Host fails.
tftp to the same machine, while running windows (dual boot) is OK.

Have upgraded the Linux tftpserver to the 0.34 version
Have run chkconfig --list and the tftp server daemon is active.
The /etc/xinetd.d/tftp exist and is enabled.
-s /tftpboot is set in the configuration file.
The file is within /tftpboot, but I have tried using the full filename in the command.

Anyone got any idea what the problem is?

:D Problem solved!
The culprit is the firewall which is enabled by default in Red Hat.
The firewall can be disabled by the command:

# sudo service iptables stop

This should of course only be done if the machine has
further protection like a H/W firewall between the network
and Internet, or if the machine is not connected to Internet at all.

How do you connect with minicom? I couldn't figure out how to set minicom to "dial" the devboard.

I managed to get "cutecom" to connect under X11, but is doesn't handle the color escape codes that the dev board outputs so the screen is impossible to read.
